Campbell Cross Farms offers a very specific backdrop for engagement photography in Toronto - rustic barns with wide open sunflower fields and open skies.
This engagement shoot took place at the right time as the sunflowers were in full bloom. When photographing in sunflower fields, you have to make sure that, at least in Ontario, you photograph them between July and the end of August as that's when they're in full bloom. They offer beautiful bold and vivid colours and they're perfectly photographed against contrasting colours.
There’s something truly magical about Campbell Cross Farms. We timed the session just before sunset so we can take advantage of golden hour. As the sun began to set, it was hitting the flowers from behind and creating a soft, glowing atmosphere. When photographing an engagement shoot in an environment like this, you want to make sure that the location does all of the heavy lifting. This means very minimal posing and letting your couple lead the shoot so that it's romantic and not forced.
