Engagement sessions are a great way to build a relationship with your photographer. It’s also a fantastic way to get comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding day. This is why the majority of my packages come standard with an engagement shoot, because it’s the best way to set you up for success on your wedding day. Here are some key reasons why an engagement shoot is a must-have before your wedding day
Building a relationship with your photographer
One of the reasons you end up choosing your photographer is based on who they are and their personality. Having an engagement shoot allows you to build more rapport with your photographer before your wedding day. You get to learn more about each other and build a relationship so that you’re more familiar with each other prior to the wedding day,. To me, an engagement shoot is where I get to learn more about your story. How you met, what your future looks like and what you’re most excited for. This way I can reference these topics during your wedding day in order to elicit specific reactions from you during your photoshoot.
Getting comfortable in front of the camera
The majority of couples have never had a professional photoshoot before. Stepping in front of a camera can be fairly intimidating, and can take about 15 minutes for you to get comfortable. An engagement shoot allows for a relaxed shooting environment to get your comfortable and prepared for your wedding day. The experience allows you to reduce your camera shyness and practice posing so that you look your best on your wedding day.
Test Run for Hair and Makeup
The most important part of your wedding day, aside from your wedding photos, is your hair and makeup. Having the opportunity to do a trial of your hair and makeup before your wedding is essential so that you can physically see what you’ll look like on your wedding da in professional photos, and you can potentially offer feedback to your makeup artist so that you look exactly how you want on your wedding day.
Wedding Invitations and Canvases
Engagement photos are versatile and can be used in different ways before and on your wedding. They make for great wedding invitations and are fantastic to print out as a guestbook or canvases to physically display at your reception. They add that subtle but noticeable pizzazz to your wedding day.
